Suzan Deison

CEO & President, Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce

Suzan Deison is a native Houstonian, visionary entrepreneur, extraordinary friend, and respected nonprofit leader whose life’s work has centered on advancing women and girls and strengthening the communities they serve. With a passion for opening doors of opportunity, she has inspired countless women to pursue their goals, grow successful businesses, and build meaningful leadership and professional relationships.

Her entrepreneurial journey began in high school while working in her mother’s dress boutique, an experience that sparked a lifelong commitment to business and service. She went on to own several successful companies while dedicating herself to civic and charitable leadership. In recognition of her outstanding work in membership development, she received six lifetime memberships from the Conroe Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. Over the years, she has helped raise more than $25 million for nonprofit organizations and has volunteered countless hours to causes that uplift women, children, and families.

Suzan’s leadership legacy is both broad and enduring. She was a founding Advisory Board Member of Houston’s Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy and later served as its President. She is also a founder of the Houston Chapter of the Golden Seeds Angel Fund. In 2007, she founded the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, where she serves as CEO and President. Now celebrating its 19th anniversary, the GHWCC is the largest women’s chamber in America, representing more than 1,300 business member companies and hosting five regional chapters across Greater Houston.

She also founded the International Women’s Chamber of Commerce, with chapters in France, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and soon to be in Italy. Under her leadership, these organizations continue to elevate women’s voices and create opportunities locally and globally, including hosting the first women’s leadership conference in Mexico.

Her contributions have earned wide respect and numerous honors, including the Houston Business Journal’s Lifetime Achievement Award, recognition from the American Cancer Society and L.I.F.E., and honors such as Texas Executive Women on the Move, Texas Women Business Leader, Woman of Distinction, Texas Women’s Hall of Fame Icon, one of Houston’s Most Influential Women, one of twenty-five Center for Houston’s Future Most Admired Alumni, and HBJ Most Admired Nonprofit CEO. Governor Gregg Abbott appointed her to the Governor’s Small Business Task Force, and she serves on the City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity Advisory Board, the Upper Kirby District Advisory Board, the World Affairs Council, and the Texas Woman’s University Dean’s Leadership Council.

Above all, Suzan considers her greatest blessing and proudest accomplishment to be her family: her loving husband, three children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Elaine Turner

Founder, Edit by Elaine Turner

Elaine Turner is a renowned fashion designer, life coach, author, and entrepreneur based in Houston, Texas. A graduate of the University of Texas, Elaine has applied her creativity and business acumen to various successful ventures, including the creation of a namesake handbag, shoe and apparel collection, and multiple retail outlets.

Her robust career spans more than 30 years and is a study in creativity, entrepreneurship, risk-taking, grand success, and immense challenge. After dissolving the Elaine Turner brand and retail concept in 2019 due to the changing retail landscape, Elaine pivoted to focus on empowering women through her passion for personal growth. In 2020, she launched an online e-course called Know Your Worth, designed to guide women in reclaiming their self-worth by building deeper self-awareness and self-compassion.

While navigating life’s challenges, Elaine realized she was happiest when designing, and in 2023, she reimagined handbags and accessories for those who crave timeless, subtle luxury with the introduction of Edit by Elaine Turner, opening a retail location in the upscale Tanglewood area of Houston. The curated collection of handbags and small leather goods are made in New York and reflect Elaine’s blend of beauty, elegance, and classicism.

Elaine is involved in and serves on several nonprofit boards focused on women’s empowerment, autism and intellectual disabilities, mental health initiatives, and breast cancer awareness.
