Not only has The Women's Resource helped me with a great [career] opportunity, a laptop, another great opportunity in training for NDT (non-destructive testing) and a TWIC card, but it led me to finally getting benefits that have been a gamechanger for me. I can now expand my mind [to focus] on the possibilities of home ownership. I am forever grateful.

When I first started helping Julie C. as her financial coach, she was waiting for her work authorization and supporting two daughters and her mother, relying on SNAP benefits and some financial help from her children's father. She was having a hard time making ends meet. We explored ways she could earn extra income, and Julie began cleaning houses and preparing meals for others while finishing her degree. Despite the challenges, she managed to save $180 for an emergency fund - one of her key goals. In the summer of 2024, Julie completed her degree and secured a job as a school aide, with the promise of a teaching position afterward. Today, Julie is no longer relying on SNAP or financial help from her children's father. She is fully responsible for her bills, including rent and car payments, and is now focused on her future, planning to open Roth IRAs for her daughters and raise her credit score to buy a home. Watching her journey has been nothing short of inspiring!

My coaching sessions [with Denise] made such a difference. She helped me reconnect with my confidence at a time when I really needed it. From reviewing my experience with fresh eyes to preparing for interviews and talking through mindset shifts, every conversation with her left me feeling stronger, more capable, and more focused. She didn't just guide me - she believed in me. And that kind of encouragement is powerful. It gave me the boost I needed to show up as my best self and go after the role I knew I was meant for.

Since I started working with Caroline R. last year, she has increased her credit score and is now mortgage-free, having paid off nearly $9,000. Another incredible change in her financial journey has been retirement - she went from having $0 set aside to over $11,000! One of her initial struggles was owing annual taxes, which used to be a great source of anxiety for her, but through effective budgeting, she has helped to alleviate that stress for herself by setting aside money on a monthly basis to cover those types of expenses. I am so proud of all of Caroline's hard work and her progress!

When I started getting help from [The Women's Resource], I was clueless and had no confidence. And I felt broke and broken. My credit score was in the low 500s. Now, my credit score is above 720 on all credit bureaus - I can't believe I have gotten here!

I've also enrolled as a full-time student at San Jacinto Community College with the intention of becoming a nurse, something I never thought was possible in my previous financial state. My goal is to graduate debt-free, which I believe is now possible!
