Volunteer

Volunteers matter! We could not accomplish our mission without the dedication of volunteers. Our organization relies on the commitment and generosity of a corps of over 150+ volunteers to accomplish our mission. Instructors are our largest group, and our committees and Board of Trustees are also made up of volunteers.

Our organization is a true model of Houstonians helping Houstonians. We invite you to join this stellar group of men and women who come from all industries and occupations. We hope you will join us!

Ways to Volunteer

Volunteer Instructor
The Women's Resource partners with community nonprofit, government and social service agencies across 38 Houston zipcodes to empower more than 6,000 women and families with financial knowledge each year. Our 60 - 90 minute YourLife Finance Classes cover basic personal finance information such as opening a bank account, budgeting, saving, and credit, and all of our classes are taught by volunteer instructors.

A majority of our classes are taught between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, with a handful of our partners offering evening classes. Our vast community partnerships not only allow our volunteers to choose to make a meaningful impact in the lives of a women from many different walks of life throughout Houston, but also to select classes from our calendar that best fit within their schedules.

In addition to the training we provide during orientation, The Women's Resource equips our volunteers with pre-prepared materials for each class. We also offer 3 continuing education events each year to learn more about our clients, teaching tips, and other volunteer best practices.
